These sessions are aimed at those who either, just want an enjoyable experience, to have a go, or to dip a toe in the water before committing to something longer.

These classes begin with learning to cut glass, before moving on to make a small project or two.

Tasters are available in the following:

Fused glass - projects might include suncatchers or coasters.

Fused glass jewellery - projects include pendants and earrings

Recycling glass - fusing waste glass such as windows into wall art, bowls or coasters

Recycled glass jewellery - using waste glass to produce items suitable to be made into jewellery.

Finished projects are left in the studio for firing and can then be collected or posted onwards. There is a small  charge for posting finished items.

Two Session Taster

2 x 2hrs
£120

Making items in fused glass can be a lengthy process, as each stage sees the piece going back into the kiln to be fired, a process which takes around 24 hrs. For this reason, this class involves two sessions held at least 24hrs apart to enable students to move beyond the very basic items produced in a single class.

The first session involves making  a piece of glass which will be fired in the kiln.

Session two is the next stage in the process, it can be making a mould to slump a larger piece into, finishing edges, or in the case of jewellery, grinding and shaping before going back into the kiln for a fire polish.

As with the basic Taster class, this mini course is available as the following:

Fused Glass

Fused Glass Jewellery

Recycling Glass

Recycled Glass Jewellery

Projects will be left for a final firing, to be collected, or posted, at a later date. Postage will incur a small charge.

At advanced level we introduce advanced fusing techniques and glass theory, moving towards designing pieces and working out how to harness the physical properties of glass to achieve the effects we want. We also look at designing our own firing schedules for more complex pieces.
